1991 940 stalling, mostly when warm

Hi all,
My beloved 1991 940 GLE (4 cyl./16 valve) is having some stalling issues. It generally seems to be when it is warmed up, and occurs only when I am off the gas (slowing down or stopped at a light). One thing I also noticed is that although it always starts fine, it doesn't have the healthy roaring engine rev. when I first fire it up like my '94 850 and my mothers '86 760 Turbo. Are the two related

Sorry, forgot to mention . . . my 940 had a mere 250K on it when the odometer stopped functioning last year. So say 270K now, and it's not done yet! Got to love the Volvo wagon
