95 850 na 0331, cat. converter,o2, sensors not ready

Post by adventurer2112 »

HI All,
Car will start, although with a new almost scraping sound, sounds great @1000 rpm. No matter how much gas I give will idle above 1800 rpm and is missing. It will not hold an idle. Only 1 code 0331 is presented. The sensors for the fuel, fire, ready, but the 02,h02, cat converter etc not ready.

Disconnected battery for 4 hours to reset computer. Help is appreciated. I am wondering if spraying engine degreaser got into various electrical connecters? And did the IAC valve pump die on me?
Thanks for your help.
Jack

I'm not understanding your symptoms Jack

The car won't idle below 1800 rpm and just stalls out?

HI,I am sorry. It will not go above 1800 rpm, with the gas floored. At higher rpm, it misses. It will not stay idling, dies quickly after I take my foot off the gas.
TIA

HI All,
On my obd2 these 4 monitors report as "not ready"
- 02 sensor, ho2 sensor,
- catalytic converter
- EVAP, I disconnected the battery for 4 hours, thinking that would reset the car's computer. Switched out known good MAF, then IAC vacuum pump thing. Still wont' hold an idle, still can't get the car to rev above 1800 rpm or so. Same symptoms Code is 0331 and 0102.
Help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

HI All,
Am going to put in new copper plugs. Disconnect all the easy to reach sensors and clean them up, check their external conditions, then reconnect. Then switch out known to be good battery, TPS, EGR valve, dist cap, rotor & plug wires. Put in 87 non ethanol gas & see if that changes anything.
Think then I have to do the driving compute reset thing.

Ok..every time you disconnect the battery you are making your sensors go through the "ready cycle " of about 100 miles of driving. This is normal and expected.

HI All,
Changed out known to be good battery, dist.cap., spark plug wires. Replaced OEM 3 way plugs with new Bosch copper core plugs. Checked, all plugs getting spark, the new copper core #3 plug electrode tips almost smashed completely together. Going to change out to known to be good OEM plugs, then the Crankshaft sensor position. OBD2 code 0331. Car will not start now, horrible metal scraping sound. If this does not do it, think it will be scrap time. Any suggestions, other than get full coverage & burn it down, would be appreciated. Thanks
Jack

Ouch. It sounds like that plug lost a bit of metal into that cylinder. Timing belt problem would not make piston hit spark plug, so I'm stuck as to cause of mashed plug.
