Looking for 2000 S80 T6 Head

Post by Bluevanacd2005 »

I just bought a car that seems like someone ran it low on coolant and it got too hot. I haven't gotten it all apart yet but I'm pretty sure it will need a head, so I'm throwing a feeler thread out here. It has low compression on #4 and #5 cylinders and leaks coolant out of the head gasket area above the exhaust manifold. Also, the plastic engine cover was melted to the valve cover slightly in the back.

Thanks for any help

I have no personal experience with them but I have read good things about Clearwater Cylinder Heads Inc. They list a remanufactured head for $500. http://cylinder-heads.com/products.cfm? ... 0&catid=27

When I went through something similar with my 850 some years ago, I found a lower mileage complete engine on Car-Part.com cheaper than I could get a reman head for.

Thanks. I removed the head today and found it to be about 0.010" warped the long way. I haven't cleaned it up yet to check for cracks but the headgasket was cooked pretty good too. I need to check the block to find out if it is warped at all.

I checked the block today. It seems perfectly straight. Also I can still see the cross hatching on the sleeves and they seem to be in good shape too.

Take it to a machine shop and have it vacuum tested(should be free). If they are honest guys they will let you know if it needs a rebuild or whatever the case is. This will be your best option. It may just need to be resurfaced and cleaned. I just finished up my first head job. My head just needed resurfacing($45 bucks).

Thanks guys. I bought a head with valve cover and cams on eBay. Gaurenteed to be straight. I figure I will replace the valve seals and check the valves before I put it on.
