Purchasing a 2nd xc90

We are planning a second purchase of a xc90. Would prefer to stay under $10,000. This one will be for our 16 yr. old daughter.
We currently have a V8. We really like the performance of the V8. Fuel economy is around the same as the 2.5,3.2. I'm a little concerned with a 2nd V8 for a 16 yr. old. I'm leaning towards a 2.5. I might consider a 2007 3.2. I've read the 3.2 is slow, transmission trying to find itself, issues with the lower end (engine bearings).
Anyone?
