Hey everybody. First want to thank everyone for this informative site. I purchased an 01 v40 1.9l turbo gas with 98,000 miles a couple months ago. It's been fun bring the car up to my maintenance standards. However after repairing a dozen or so ECM codes I've got one that keeps reappearing. P1236 I've searched the internet including the major Volvo boards and haven't seen anyone's experience with this code. One post says it could be the turbo wastegate another says it could be the fuel pump circuit.
Anyone have any ideas? The car seems to drive fine. Not a lot of power but not sure if that's just me.
So far I've replaced:
PCV System (kit from FCP)
2nd catalytic converter and flex pipe.
Spark plugs and the two wires.
Replaced MAF.
Replaced FPR.
Replaced fuel filter.
Replaced brake booster vacuum switch.
Replaced both O2 sensors.
Replaced Idle Air Control Supply Hose.
Replaced coolant temp sensor.
Replaced upper and lower radiator hoses.
Replaced turbo coolant return hose.
Replaced automatic transmission fluid using 3x3 method. (Mobil 3309)
Replaced coolant a couple times due to repairs/hose replacement. (Pentosin Red)
The car feels like theres little power when accelerating onto the highway. From a stop the car accelerates fine. Before I replaced the flex pipe and 2nd cat. I could hear the turbo spool. So I believe the turbo is functional. The P1236 has been consistent throughout all the above replaced parts.
