1997 850na hitches 2001 V70XC - would it?

Help, Advice and DIY Tutorials on Volvo's P80 platform cars -- Volvo's 1990s "bread and butter" cars -- powered by the ubiquitous and durable Volvo inline 5-cylinder engine.

1992 - 1997 850, including 850 R, 850 T-5R, 850 T-5, 850 GLT
1997 - 2000 S70, S70 AWD
1997 - 2000 V70, V70 AWD
1997 - 2000 V70-XC
1997 - 2004 C70

1997 850na hitches 2001 V70XC - would it?

After looking at several option, I am considering pulling the our 2001 V70XC behind 1997 850na for 400 miles. It is all flat midwest terrain. What equipment is needed, where to hook? Would V70XC it be N with ignition ON?

I think that will destroy both cars. Don't do it. Try to find a pick up truck to drag the car like the video below.

Oh, wait, you said XC, that means AWD. It needs to be all the way off the ground unless you disconnect the rear drive shaft.

Or just convoy it. 400 miles is a day trip!

I researched few options last night; U-Haul Auto Transport pulled with 10' Truck where the 2001 V70XC is carried on a trailer; the car shipping brokerage (what a circus).

Since the 2001 V70XC would not run, pushing it up the Auto Transport ramp would be need Hercules.
The Brentwood dealership is booked through new year.

Take the propshaft out feeding drive to the rear wheels, it's only a 30 min job then you can tow it with just the front wheels off the ground, this should increase the options available to you - Mike

Hercules Jr. can also use a 20 USD come along winch from Harbor freight to get this done...also useful for numerous other things around the house like moving bodies...

I was taking to interstate transport brokers to ship the car. It is a circus.
I will share the theatrics of cost to ship just because the car is not running in my next post

I had a car shipped about 200 miles for about $250 once.

You might try www.UShip.com. They do a LOT of car shipping. I talked to a guy that got a car shipped from Albuquerque NM to Miami for about $600.
