XC90 Window trim is cloudy
My XC90 has 20k miles. Around 10k, the stainless window trim around the front and rear windows started to look cloudy. The dealer told me that they have seen this on some other XC90s and that it has to do with drive thru car washes. I told the dealer that I probably hand wash mine more than the average owner, so I wasn't convinced. Anyone else experienced the same issue? The dealer even told me that there isn't a polish on the market that would help.

Hi, I had the same problem with my MY04 XC90. I've always used hand car washes, not the machine ones but the soap reacts with the plastic trims (it's not steel or chrome). The good new was the dealer replaced all trims free of charge under warranty a couple of months ago. Get these done under warranty otherwise it would cost a few hundred pounds out of warranty when you come to sell.
Although I am still having major problems with the trims keep popping out of their fixing and hanging off the side of the door!

I know this is a resurrection of this 6 year old post but has anyone replaced the trim themselves, or considered painting them black so that there is no chrome left. the chrome does looke nice but when it gets the cloudy look, its horrible.
just looking for experiences with replacing them or if someone did paint them.
