Hi,
My XC70 pumped the power steering fluid overboard due to the o-ring failing on the pressure connection. I found Pentosine CHF-202 at my local NAPA but when I got home I found that Vida recommend 1161529 but that cross to CHF 11S. The Pentosine data sheet also list the 202 from 2002 and on but 11S for the earlier years. Anyway, they had the 11S in stock so I guess I go back tomorrow and exchange it.
On the o-ring side I found a reference stating HNBR is ok with S11 fluid. http://www.zeonchemicals.com/AutomotiveORings.aspx
Parker recommend various o-ring materials for power steering systems but they don't specify what type of fluid.
The Volvo O-ring PN is 969092. My car also lack the bracket that secures the fitting PN 8683807
Does anyone know what size o-ring is used in that location? The one that came out is to damaged to measure and it looks like a piece is missing. The seat on the tube is about .305 and the bulge is 0.5" on the tube.
Is there a standard at Volvo for color coding of o-rings?

CHF-202 is backward compatible.
I bought several sets of cheap O-rings of approximately needed size, one was ok. Not even sure if rubber is oil-resistant, but it works for couple of years now, no spills.
Mine was missing bracket as well, sprinkled half of pint once. It is easy to make your own from what you have on shelves in garage.

Thanks vti.
I realized it was a weekday (i'm off work this week) so e down to Gengras Volvo and got the OEM ring.
I measure the id to 0.307 a 302 pin is loose and a 5/16 pin is just a tad over. The width is 0.072 so the size they gave me is a -011. (5/16 ID by 7/16 OD 1/16 Wide) That size is included in the Harbor Freight HNBR set #67644 as reference if someone else gets stranded on a weekend. Be careful with using Home Depot o-rings. EPDM is very common for water etc and that will not do well with oil or gasoline.
On the parts guys computer only the CHF-202 show and that was the only oil they stocked but NAPA was before Volvo on my trip this morning. Oh well. it is getting S11 as it had in the past...
