1991 740 Timing belt crank shaft pulley in pieces

I have removed the timing belt. I don't know how to assemble the keeper rings on the timing belt gear. There are squared off and rounded slots in the keepers and the cogg also has preturding and indented areas that appear to be for line up. It may have to do with the keyway in the crankshaft.
