I have a Volvo S80 2.4 petrol engine model year 1999 with automatic transmission and i noticed that gear changing is not as smooth as before so I checked transmission oil level it was correct but the oil has a brown color not red so i guess it`s time to to change it but i can`t see any drain plug and my nearest dealer is 200 km (125 miles) away can anybody tell me more about this job and what type of oil did they used to ?
Volvo has done only 75000 km (46662 miles) and the gearbox has this order P,R,N,D,4,3,L.
Thank`s a lot Niki
Is there any drain plug for transmission oil change ?

That's a hard one to call. If you PM me your VIN I can tell you which gearbox you have and which oil to use. Also what country are you in?
The 2.4 and 4 speed were combined in 1999 on V70s and S70s but with other models the 5 speed didn't appear until 2000 so it's a hard one to call.

One thing you may consider if you will be changing the transmission fluid on a regular basis is to install an aftermarket drain plug to make the process a bit easier in the future. I ordered a drain plug it from amazon and will be installing it soon when I do a drain and fill.
This is the kit I purchased

P,R,N,D,4,3,L. indicates it is a 5 speed and therefore need the JWS3309 spec oil, DO NOT put standard ATF or Dexron III in this box or you will trash it.
There is a drain plug for the autobox it is a 24MM hex head bolt at the lowest part of the transmission. To refill the box ONLY add fluid via the dipstick tube for the gearbox, there is no rapid fill port or alternative to use, just get a long reach funnel with a small spout that fits the dipstick tube.
Two basic methods for changing the oil, search "Gibbons method" for one type the other involves repeated sump dumps with a period of driving for 200+ miles between each sump dump.
I use two identical 2L measuring jugs when doing this as you can match the old fluid that came out with an identical amount of new fluid by comparing levels of oil in the two jugs, note when you drain the sump approx. 3,5L will come out so make sure the actual catch can you use has adequate capacity, you then pour from the catch can in to the measuring jug, this is only what is in the sump and is about half of the total oil in the box.
When you do a final fluid level check take the car for a spin 20 to 30 miles, position it on flat level ground with the engine running go through all the selector positions, return the lever to Park then check the oil using the yellow dipstick on the side marked hot, it only takes 200ML of fluid to go from min to max on the hot side of the dipstick so only add small amounts when topping up - Mike

So oils that comply with JWS3309 are Toyota IV fluid, Mobil 3309, Nulon Synthetic Multi Vehicle Transmission fluid (my favourite) as well as the OEM fluids from other cars which share the AW55-50SN tranmission.
The ATSG service guide for this trans indicates that Nissan has their own synthetic fluid for use in the '04-'06 Maxima .

Search 'transmission flush 850'. All you need is some 3/4 inch tubing and clamp. I use about 3 gal. of dextron and the fluid is pink again.
I rejuvenate Volvos and have done this to most. 1 out of 10 will have decent fluid. I rarely do S70's, mostly 850's

This is a 2.4 litre with 5 speed not the GM tranny so what applies here is 850/V70 information. There is no pan on this model and there is a drain plug.
