2007 XC90 Low oil level light. Broken sensor?

Hi there. I have a 2007 XC90 with about 40k miles on it. Great condition with regular maintenance done. My red caution light comes on telling me I have low oil and that it needs to be filled. It does not say anything about pressure. According to the manual, those are separate messages. The full synthetic oil was only about 3,000 miles old and was reading right at the full level on my dipstick. The engine runs fine with no indications (other than the light) that something is wrong.

I changed the oil and filter, and after about 5 miles, the light came back on!

I believe this is an oil level sensor. Can anyone give me advice on how to change this out? I am pretty sure it resides on the bottom of the pan right next to the filter. When I replaced the filter, I disconnected, cleaned and reconnected the wiring harness that connects to what I believe to be the sensor. I also attempted to remove it but feared that it was attached with a special adhesive or something, above and beyond the three bolts that attach it to the bottom of the pan

I spoke to a couple mechanics - of course they all said to bring it in! One local guy recommended I do it myself and check out this site for reference. Very nice to get honest advice from a local business. I would like to give him my business, but only if this is something over my head.
