1986 240 DL sedan Cluster and dash lights out

Hi-

I just noticed that my cluster and dashboard lights do not turn on anymore. Even the light to the vacuum gauge I installed is out. All I get is the bulb out warning light and that's it. I have checked the fuses to no avail. I have power to the radio and everything else.

any clues?

How about the dash light dimmer?...

I have tried the dimmer knob to no avail. Perhaps it went bad? Yet that would not explain the illumination lights out in the dash for the heater controls, shifter, etc.

As far as I can remember the dimmer switch also works on the heater control and the gear shift lights.

did you ever figure out why you lost your dash lights? I'm having the same problem on my 94 490. heater and shift lights out too but the radio lights are on. bizarre.

check fuses. and wires under the dash. somethings touching.
