1999 S70 Warm starting problem MVSuccess. Bad dist cap

Post by Rabbie »

Some time ago I posted about a problem I had with my S70. It started fine when cold but if I only went a short distance it would not start until it had cooled right down which was very frustrating. I f the engine was properly warmed up then restarting wasn't a problem. I spent a lot of time checking temperature sensors etc to no avail. Even had it into Volvo to read codes and investigate problem. Although they changed thermostat and temp sensor problem was no better.

Finally I checked the distributor cap and found it had a hairline crack. I replaced the cap and rotor arm and the problem now seems to be fixed.

I hope this may help others with a similar problem

I assume this was a 1998 S70, since a 1999 doesn't have a distributor cap?
