Greetings All, I perhaps should of pinned this to an existing thread but it seems all the cam seal stuff is buried amoungst the timing belt stuff (much like the seals themselves). I apologize if this is a faux pas.My issue is about a listing of two front cam seals starting in 99, one specified Left front, Volvo # 9458309, and one specified Right front, Volvo # 9440651. I bought the big TB kit #331wp1 from FCP and it came with these two different "front" seals They are visibly different though apparently the same size and I can see that my existing front seals are the same on both sides, they appear to be the 9440651. Now my seals appear to be fine, no signs of leaks , they seem to be seated properly, but with 158k and since we're in there I was going to do this along with the wp so we don't need to go there again for a long, long time (hopefully). Does anyone know what the heck this is all about? I'm not using that 9458306. I've returned it and fcp is sending me another 9440651. By the way the TB kit FCP sent was specified for my engine #15154XX (tag got wiped with some solvent, but we have the important numbers I believe), and all the rest of the parts were correct. I plan on doing the pcv sys next which doesn't appear to be badly clogged but past due I guess. Am I correct that I have read a clogged pcv sys can cause cam seal leaks? And I will take this oppurtunity the thank all of you who have posted on this subject as well as the TB /tensioner/this that and evry other thing, its all here very well done. I'm progressing slowly, as is my nature, reading things over and over ( my wife just walked by and said as an aside "there is such a thing as too much information" and I refuted that vehemently since I enjoy readng about all these experiences and what I hope are mostly happy outcomes. Sorry to ramble, anyone have thoughts or comments? Thanx everyone. GO SEAHAWKS

The '99 you own may be a '98 build. Does it have a distributor cap and leads?
Cam seal leaks can be caused by an overpressurised crankcase either by worn piston rings or a blocked PCV.

Between 1993-1998: cap/rotor system, so 2 FRONT cam seals and 2 REAR cam seals.
From 1999 ---> direct ignition, no cap/rotor, so 2 FRONT cam seals (9440651) and 1 REAR cam seal (9443310).
I may be wrong, but this is what I know...
