2003 S40 Rear Antenna Plug Adapter?

Hi all,

When I got my S40 the antenna was broken off. This car has the motorized antenna. I know I can buy a replacement antenna, but I would rather replace it with a fixed antenna.

The problem I am running into is the antenna plug in the trunk that the original motorized antenna plugged into. Aftermarket antenna use the larger DIN style, or Motorola, plugs. So I need an adapter... but I cannot find anything that looks like it will fit the Volvo plug. All of the adapters I have looked at online are for replacement radios.

Has anyone done this before and found an adapter that fit?

Well, I got impatient this morning and decided just to cut the connector off of the motorized antenna mast and splice it onto my new antenna. Soldered the center conductor, built up electrical tape to match the original insulation, laid the braided shield back over the patch, wrapped with aluminum foil and more electrical tape.

All my stations come in crystal clear now!
