ETM replacement in conjunction with computer upgrade?

Post by Erupert66 »

I have an '01 S60 T5 with ~160k and the original ETM. Getting idle surging at lights and I've pulled it and cleaned it but that didn't help. So, since an ETM replacement requires s/w (right?), I was thinking that I would look into a computer upgrade at the same time. Does anyone do this? I have seen a company offering a lifetime warranty on one and I've seen rebuilt at FCP for $137. I talked to the guy at Snabb awhile back, now I don't see tunes on his site, just some parts. Anybody have a recommendation other than IPD? Can both be done in one shot to save downtime?

How is your progress?
Mike says to install replacement ETM from XeMoDeX. It comes pre-programed.

I am going to pull my ETM and send it out to ARD. It's $169 for the repair kit and they charge $92 to do the work. Since I'll also be sending a computer and the car will be down without the computer anyway, for $92 I figured that I have someone do it that has done it before vs me futzing around with it.

That is definitely worth the money. Then, if you have an issue, you can just call them up.

Saw an XEMODEX ETM for sale on sweedspeed. However after $125 to that guy, still would have to pay to get the s/w transferred. I think this is still the best route
