My First Post here so Apologies in advance if I screw it up.
I have a 2002 XC70. I found a solution to My problem with my Electronic Climate Control that has had me stumped for a couple weeks. It started when I removed it to clean the Dirt from the Thermocouple or (Thermistor), Not knowing it was there I may have broke it, or it have already been broken, I cannot be sure.
However, when putting it back it would not power ON. I tried every known solution that I could find here and a number of other places. Finally out of desperation, having stripped down everything to just the Circuit Board, I placed a Jumper wire across where the Thermocouple is. It immediately Powered Up. I don't know if this is just temporarily shorting it so by de facto resetting it or what. I did make inquiries at the Dealer Parts Dept. He said he did not think it being severed would cause it not to completely work. However its a mystery. If you would like to see a demonstration, as soon as I found the problem I made a video and put it on Youtube, hopefully to help others in the same spot. I had seen many posts with the same exact problem, only everyone ending in a trip to the dealer or replacing the unit. I hope this helps someone. Peace.

The thermistor GB1074U-3-0 seems to be a close match.

but the "Glass bead NTC G540 thermistor,10k , Manufacturer EPCOS" is the direct replacement.

I would suggest to use a 10K resistor instead of a jumper wire in the meantime. It would do the same but with less stress on the thermistor circuit.

I just wanted to share my recent experience with the same issue. Our 2002 Volvo V70 SW had the Climate Control Module stop working - no power, no nothing. I took it to a shop (after I tried the door unlock/lock and battery items found online)and they said it was no good and needed to try the dealership. They also mentioned I could try BBA Reman. I spoke with them and they said to send it in, and they would look at it. If they could do nothing, $35 + shipping or the dealership might be as much as $1100, from what I have heard. I sent it in and they got back to me within 2 days of my shipping it to them and it was fixed. $99 (I was quoted this over the phone, sort of a flat rate thing, I guess) + shipping. I asked what was done/needed and they said the thermistor needed to be replaced. They powered it up and all was good. I will be getting it back later this week

We watched your video and thought it would never work. Having noyhing to lose and being quoted $1300.00 from the dealer, decided to try it! Sure enough the thermsistor was broken. Did everything in your video and shazam! It worked! The only thing I can add is that you can not unplug and replug after you do this or it will again stop working. Also had to leave the jumper on for about 30 seconds before it would restart.

Wow!! I went through all sorts of used units to find one for my '01 XC and now all I need to do is replace the thermistor. ( it was visibly broken)

I wonder if this is what is wrong with my 1999 V70 SW... The power to the AC goes on & off at will... no rhyme or reason. When it's on, it works awesome... Then just completely stops and the red & green power lights go off and is dead as a doornail.... Maybe my mechanic & I will try this. THANK YOU for making the video and sharing the info!

Thanks!!! This was the exact problem for my 2002 S60 T5. Opened up the climate control panel and saw that the thermistor was broken. The thermistor link suggested in an old post by a prior poster was no longer in stock. Found a thermistor with the same ratings as the original here: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/det ... 00/1220081
Had a friend solder the new thermistor on and the climate control panel is powered up and everything is working. One suggestion: you will need to leave enough length on the thermistor connectors when soldering it to the board so that the head of the thermistor reaches the backside of the vent on the face of the climate control panel when you reassemble it. The vent is comprised of the three horizontal slots just above the passenger side temperature dial. This is required so that the thermistor is able to accurately sense the passenger compartment ambient temperature.
