That photo was incorrect.

I have put together a composite photo showing both the incorrect and correct method.
Again, no need to remove the cross bar or cassette player. Once the CD player is out, you can solder it using a fine-tip soldering gun...

Hey everyone,
Sorry I've been away from this post for a year! Matt, thanks for correcting the mistake I made; however, I must correct the correction! This is what the the wires should look like.

If you wire per my original or the correction above, you'll get one channel. This will get both. I had to get my original 816 that I did three years ago to find the correct pins again and I just got the second one (black faced) to work. Sorry for the confusion! My eyes aren't what they used to be; but if you look at the pic you can see Rch and Lch clearly over the feeds to these pins. Thanks everyone.

I need to reply to the comment above "If you wire per my original or the correction above, you'll get one channel":

- If you wire according to the very first photo ---> 1 channel. So don't do that.

- If you wire according to method by me cn90, EstVolvo, or bags519, it will be fine.

- On the other hand, I understand that there are more than 1 way to do this, so you may want to try the newest photo by b2fkb0.

It is your choice.

CN90, thanks for making that image and writing the followup text above it.

I think this is as straightened out as it's going to get. I'll add these to the head post of this thread.

Has anyone figure out how to keep the tape from ejecting? The tape in my deck keeps on ejecting even when I press the "cassette" tape button or reverse the playback direction.

I'm able to simulate the tape under tension by opening the tape & re-routing the tape inside the cassette. I have an SC-815 deck that doesn't have an Rch and Lch pass through hole on the PCB. I found this tip, http://www.atthetipwebs.com/technologyi ... eo_mod.htm, where I ended soldering the 3.5MM audio cable wires to the connections on the rear PCB (#10).

Cool stuff here on this site!

Well, I did exactly as described, but I can't seem to get the cassette tape to stay in the stereo.
On top of that, I don't even know if it ever worked, because I never listened cassette tape's before.
Any idea as to why it won't accept the cassette tape?
I am totally lost now.

Thanks a lot!
