2007 XC90 Rear passenger door open

2007 XC90 Rear passenger door open

The readout is saying that our rear passenger door is open, when it's cleary closed. It opens and closes fine, stays closed, cant force it open without pulling on door handles. Because the car thinks the door is opened the interior lights stay on. Any idea why the car thinks the door is opened when it's closed?

First cheap effort is to spray a LOT of WD-40 into the latch. Look at back of door ans spray upwards into the sideways V opening. Then close and open 2-3 times and see if the message is gone.
There is a switch in the latch that tells the monitoring control unit (on that one, the REM) if the door is fully latched or not.
