1998 V70 Is it worth it? Problems issues?

Is this something I should consider? There are several things needed already. What are the big things to look for if it is worth it?

1998 Volvo V70 Cross Country Wagon AWD 193K miles runs good needs work - $1200 (san leandro)

Very skinny information in ad.

Compression test on motor needed.
PCV evaluation
Add 1000 USD for full timing belt job due
Driving evaluation of transmission

"Why are you selling it?" Asked in person, with scrutiny of the micro expressions in order.

I see a need for 2-3K in parts probably to tighten this car up. Also a fair amount of time doing it. Without a close looksee this is just a guess for starters. Good Luck!

Those can be a pain when you have to pass an inspection. I think those are "buy to keep" cars, not flippers.

Buying to re-sell? Then I'd walk. To fix, offer no more than $750.00. Get it for a screaming low price since you're looking a 2K or more to fix it up. Check the tires for AWD considerations. This could be a pit or if it's physically OK, maybe worth the 2K+ to bring it back.

There are so many DIY Volvo people in the SF bay area, that if this car hasn't sold in almost two weeks there is probably a reason. So kind of a red flag right there. In that east bay (or whole bay area) market, the good ones will go in half a day. I agree it looks tempting though. If the cylinders all have good compression and the rear main seal isn't leaking, then it might be worth it. I'd want it to get under 1,000 though, it will need a ton of work. And just assume you will never have the AWD running properly, that's a big expense; consider it an LPT. Start at like 700.

Thanks everyone. Between the consensus of 2K plus that everyone thinks it needs and transmission I'll pass. Don't need to be pulling transmissions. The garage is too small and I am getting too old for that kind of stuff under the car. Thanks!
