What is the difference between Vida and Vice, are they the same thing?
Other then troubleshooting and providing procedures what else can it do? Specifically can it reset fault codes? Can it reset the airbag light (SRS)?
Just bought this V70 GLT, with an insurance replaced engine block great deal. I need to get it to pass safety and the airbag light is on. I have had the codes read and I think I have repaired the issue but need to reset the system to be sure. Codes were drivers side SIPS and seat belt buckle. I do not want to take it back to the garage and spend 50$ over and over until I solve the issue. There is a 10 in 1 tool available to reset service and SRS lights, but I would prefer a cheap version of Vida.
Vida is the software used to read/ diagnose and reset faults on your car, the Vida software runs on a PC connected to the car via a DiCE unit, most Dice clones from China come with a copy of the Vida software - As for Vice, probably found in the red light district but nothing to do with Volvo diagnostics.
Has the drivers seat been swapped as it could be from an earlier car which would cause the exact issue you describe - Mike
Thanks for the break down, very good news. Now to find a Canadian supplier of the cheap knock offs. Haven't had a chance to read through the link, but I will.
As for the Airbag. It does not appear as though the seat has been swapped, I know that if it came from an 850 it would not work as it has a "manual" airbag (or whatever the term is for it) I found a broken wire under the seat that looked to be linked to the seat belt buckle.
Question:
Do airbag connectors have a distinct color on my volvo? I know they are all yellow on my '97 Chev 1500. I want to try cleaning the connectors before getting too deep into it.
The air bag connection to the seat will be a two pin green and purple connector, you can fit 850 mechanically fired seats in to 99/00 as that is what I have done, you still have SIPS protection but to fool the car in to thinking the electrically fired bag is still connected you solder a 2,2 Ohm resistor across the cars wiring to the seats airbag connector, this fools the car in to thinking the electrically fired bag is still in place.
The seatbelt buckle also differs between the -98 and 99- cars, -98 had a basic microswitch in the buckle, the 99- had an inductive proximity sensor in the buckle and the two are not interchangeable. If the wire you have fixed now makes the fasten seatbelt signs flash the car might only need the SRS reset with Vida/ DiCE a broken wire to the seatbelt buckle on a 99- car will trigger and latch the SRS warning - Mike
