2010 XC90 D5 odd bearing type sound - no one knows answer

I have a 2010 XC90 Exec D5. It has done 112,000 KM and been serviced by Volvo main dealer exactly to schedule.

The issue i have is that when i am slowing down (engine breaking) as i hit 40km/h i get a noise from the front left area that sounds like bearings - this then goes away at about 37km/h. Also happens or if foot on accelerator holding at 40km/h. If i am pressing the brake there is no noise, if accelerating no noise.

I have had a Volvo tech listen to it who has never heard this before. Looking for suggestions as to what it could be or info from people who have suffered similar as i don't want to put it in to the dealer and spend a day of labor having them looking for a needle in a haystack.

Any help/tips would be massively appreciated

Has the rear prop shaft been inspected? You are in milage range where the front CV joint on that shaft can begine to give problems. On some I have worked on the noise did sound to me to be forward and to the left. The front CV joint is exposed to heat from exhaust and catalyst and it dries out the grease and the shaft no longer is able to float fore-aft freely. The front joint usually can be cleaned and re-packed with grease by tapping off the end cap once shaft is out of vehicle. Often a whole new shaft is fitted at considerable cost unnecessarily. Volvo services the front joint for most AWD vehicles.
I did assume that your XC90 Executive is an AWD version as the cause I listed would only apply to AWD models.
