04 XC70 Lights when locking doors

I just noticed that the exterior running lights no longer light up when I lock the doors. The doors all lock and the alarm sets (presumably as the red light on the dash flashes as normal). Anyone have any ideas on what the cause may be?

There are reports that the hood alarm switch can become stuck leading to this symptom. Several readers have suggested opening and slamming the hood (bonnet) several times to fix this. Alternatively, you could have one or more sensors damaged, or a wire to one of these damaged. But I would try the hood thing first.

It's internal to the left-hand (driver's side on LHD cars) latch. If you have a multimeter you can ohm it out if you unplug it -- the switch will be closed with the hood closed and open with the hood open -- if it stays open-circuit with the hood closed, you've found your problem.

I just wanted to follow up with this issue. I tried the hood first by closing it hard a couple of times and it solved the problem! Thank you for the advice!
