Volvo 850 fuel door hinge installation question

I'm replacing the fuel door hinge as the plastic was broken. Does this have to be installed from the other side of the gas tank? As in going through the side of the trunk?

I used blind rivits from the outside.

Believe it or not, this is one I would take to the dealer. The original and replacement parts have plastic studs that need to be driven flush. They are quite fragile. It takes a practiced touch. You could easily go through two or three parts and not get it as opposed to having the dealer do it first time (or maybe third or 4th time but only charging you for the part once).

It is not impossible as a DIY repair, just quite finicky if you use an original OEM replacement part.

If you get into custom modifications of the part then my advice does not hold.
