1997 850 GLT Manual swap Questions

Post by Jush »

Before I get hounded out by the "use the search" posts, I have a couple of hard to answer questions.
I am fortunate enough to be a Canadian, therefore, I managed to locate and buy an M59 from a 96R.
That being said.

1. Is the M59 different than the M56 physically, as in, are there characteristics about the tranny dimensionally that would cause the swap to be different than an M56 swap? I have found many resources on the swap and that's exactly what I'll refer to, but like I said, they all refer to the M56.

2. Is there an ID number I can look up to make absolute sure that this is an R transmission. There is no doubt in my mind that it is, it would just be nice to have that piece of mind.

Thanks a lot,
-Josh

If you don't get an answer here it might be helpful to shoot an email to Lucky at ARD. He's helped answer a lot of my questions regarding my own manual swap.
