02 v70 turning off vent valve to test

Post by alesv »

I have a 02 volvo v70 and a p0442 (430d) code.I'm not familar with the volvos however i'm very familar with evap systems.
I want to do a smoke test to find the leak. However, My solus ultra doesnt give the option on this car to control the vent silinoid valve (normaly open). I have control to open the purge valve 25% (normaly close).
My question would be is if i only have control of the purge valve, will it close the vent valve when I command the purge valve open?
If not how do I shut the valve to smoke test it?
Thanks

You use something suitable and reach up by filler neck behind RR wheel housing liner and plug the vent hose outlet. The vent valve is integral with the leak detection pump.

Thank You Jimmy 57. I did it and it turns out to be the imfamous J hose leaking, torn right at the canister.
I read about that hose so much you would think Autozone or advance auto would stock it. I order it from Rock auto $17 with shipping
