Members of our fraternal order,
After 221k the S70 power antenna finally succumbed--well, got broken off. It's been stuck in the up position and unplugged since the first tape broke because I never saw the need for a power antenna on a garaged hand-washed car. So now I'm looking for a decent fixed staff replacement, but the stuff at the auto stores looks like junk, and I'm having trouble locating online anything US (Metra GM universal, etc.) that will fit the 16mm hole in the rear quarter panel. I would prefer black for an understated look. Has anyone had success in locating such? Thanks.

A new antenna mast is $15, why not just replace the one that's broken?

Thanks, but the mast is broken off almost flush and seized in the power unit. I'm looking for a thin black fixed stainless rather than the old fat telescoping '57 Chevy look

Does not say if it will fit S70 but does claim to fit 850. Wish they would show the 5 different bases. I was just wondering if anyone has gone down this road before.

I used a metra (black rubbery type) on an old Mazda. It fit OK and looked good and worked well. I'd give it a shot to see if it works ok for you. There are not a lot of choices.

rspi, shark fin would be cool, but I want to keep it simple with a rear deck mount in the existing hole.
rmmagow, thanks for the report on the Metra. I will see how it works out. This is my wife's car and her first mod in 16 years. She is totally on board with it, so I want to do it right.
