I was replacing my cracked radiator today when I ran into a problem. I had most of it out, and was removing the upper Cooler Pipe when I noticed the Collar was busted up. Anyone know of a way to get this disconnected? I have a picture of it below.

By inserting a couple of picking tools down the missing side you should be able to push the tab in while holding the good (unbroken) side down with a zip tie.
Some WD40 will help the assembly slide apart.

Thanks for that information. When you say "push the tab in" does that mean in towards the radiator, or pinched in on the line. Also, the half that looks good is in itself also loose and about to break off. How exactly is the collar holding the pipe in? I only ask because the Hines manual doesn't give much information.

You're pushing the plastic in the same direction as you would if you squeeze the good side which is toward the metal pipe. There is a circular ridge further in the plastic clip which retains the clip and cooling line in place.
Take a look at the IPD volvo website under transmission parts so you can see what the clip looks like.

The clip when I removed it was essentially gone, with only the outer collar remaining. Had to order a new one since no auto part stores carry them around here.
Another quick question. Once I got the new radiator back in, hooked everything back up, put in some new coolant, all was good until I noticed my check engine light was now on. I checked under the hood and noticed that I had missed a connection from the cooling fan. I can't seem to find the other end, and I really don't want to remove the whole radiator assembly again. Any idea where this one connects to?

What color are the wires leading to it?

Sorry didn't have a chance to look at my '02 XC as it's garaged elsewhere from home. I looked at my '01 XC and noticed a connector like yours connected to the fan with only one purple wire which is mounted on the fan shroud however the fan is out of the car as it's being repaired.
Perhaps tomorrow morning.
Anyone else care to comment?
