1994 Volvo Turbo Mishimoto Trans Cooler

Post by Baptiste1106 »

Due to the stock inefficiency of the stock internal Trans cooler in the Volvo 850 turbo radiator, I was thinking of purchasing an external mishimoto Trans cooler from fcpeuro.com for $146.25. Since high internal fluid temps kill these auto box, I wanna hold on to my current stock tranny w/o a rebuild. Any inputs MVS?

You will need to use it as an additional cooler as not heating the fluid up to temp quickly lowers the service life of the trans. The rad does this for you.

Do you need it in NY?
Theses trans are made by Toyota, if you do the regular fluid changes you should be fine.
If you live somewhere hot or tow, that is another story

I've used a external trans cooler inline with the stock cooler. It mounted on the bottom grill.

Also converted the coolers ends at the radiator to 3/8 barb ends.

I do live in NYC and the vehicle will be used as a daily driver in our lovely bumper to bumper traffic we deal with. No tow but hey why not prevent as a factor of tranny break down.... Thanks for your input MVS
