i have two separate issues; fuel system and suspension
first off, i originally bought the car for my sister in decent condition about two years ago and since then she has run it into the ground. now that she moved i am trying to fix 'er up so i can drive it and sell my old civic (loved the civic and will miss the manual tranny).
alright so my fuel problems are that i have to step on the gas for the thing to crank (5-8 turns) and when it starts i must rev it to 3k rpms until i feel it smooth out or else it will stall. when i put it into gear with a cold engine it wants to stall (200-400 rpms) and at a light i have to drop it in neutral for it to stay at 900 rpms because it pulsates 400-700 rps in gear. the ac will stall it at a light and im in florida so im burning up and sweating at lights haha. also the dipstick for the oil blows out at high rpm i'm assuming (isnt always popped up when i look)
i believe it is two thing, the fuel pressure regulator causing bad fuel pressure for crank and idle speed and a plugged crankcase ventalation sytem causing the dipstick popping/pressure buildup. put a thing of fuel system cleaner in the gas today.. probably should have checked if those are bad for volvos tho.
what are your thoughts? and what route should i go with buying them? i can probably do the labor myself but i dont want to get aftermarket fpr for 123$ if it is bad for the rest of the systems.. id rather pay the 223$ from a euro site or the dealership. anyone here use the cheap parts and lived to tell about it? im used to dirt cheap civic parts
going to do a few tune up things like iacv throttle body and other cleanings after i fix the major stuff.
no codes are popping up.
suspension issue is i have a violent shake on the front passenger side going over the smallest bumps while at highway speeds or decelerating at 50mph or so. at night it is apparent that the headlight shakes just as rapid as well.
idk what that could be... well i know what it COULD be ( shaft, stabilizer, rods and so on) but i dont know exactly what my specific symptoms indicate.
so my agenda tomorrow before work is to call the dealership and get some prices on parts and try to test the fpr and crankcase vent system
i'd love to hear some experienced opinions on what to test or replace. im new to volvo and with people calling for "volvo spec. shops or stealership only" it can be intimidating to someone who has only worked on hondas and fords.
my anniversary is next week and i'll be out of town but i will be fixing this asap and will keep anyone who helps posted.
Shopping list:
fpr
cv breather hoses
fuel filter
new dipstick/oil fill cap/gas cap (jic)
possible tie rods or stabilizer bar
have done:
plugs and coils (toasted)
oil change
fuel additive/system cleaner
to do:
flush tranny and coolant
flush fluids
check and clean a long, discouraging list of systems
thanks guys & p.s. this is a great car, even as flawed as mine currently is.
