08 s60 sump pan torque?

Post by Sagan »

I've looked all over fit the proper torque settings for the oil pan on this car. Can't find them anywhere. Haynes says N/A on the petrol models. This is the type with the anaerobic chemical gasket. Any suggestions?

although I don't have numbers, since the seal should not be 'crushed' too much, I'd say not more than 15 ft-lbs, maybe 10 to 15. It doesn't need to be too tight.

The pan bolts are 13 ft-lbs and the bolts into bell housing are 35 ft-lb

Thanks Jimmy57. Much appreciated. Anyone know the actual cure time for the chemical seal?

I think you can safely start the engine after 30 mins of drying time. The principle is lack of oxygen promotes curing while in contact with aluminium so it was designed to provide a very quick cure.

Thanks precopster. I was thinking a whole day or something like that. I'll give it a good hour before filling with oil and giving her a shot.
