1998 v70xc fixed my power seat switch

Tried to move seat forward and switch didn't work. Programmed buttons did move it forward.
Looked here how to remove switch panel.
1. I disconnected battery
2. Pull up on front, then tilt up and side back. I didn't break anything.
3. I was hard to remove green plug. Hard to get to release button.

I brought the assembly inside, removed 3 torx screws, released tab and removed switch assembly.
Don't try to pull the knobs off. Remove small phillip screws and remove circuit board with memory buttons facing down. There are small springs for the memory button you don't want to lose.

I then cleaned switches with contact cleaner (CRC QD electronic cleaner) Working the switches at the same time.

Switch works great.

Can anyone tell me what the red tool under the side seat panel? I assume it for the side air bag. When or how is it used?

to cover sensor for airbag. they will fire without the battery. they cover the round pressure switch.

I have the same problem. The drivers seat works perfectly, the passenger seat: nothing. No noise for the motors, no mov't at all.

It is the same fuse for both correct?

Can the contacts be that dirty that not one single button works? I'm surprised?

my quick fix didn't last to long. no forward movement. Forward motion works from memory presets.
need to clean switch again or replace. or add external switch?

Bill, I was ecstatic until I read your last post as my S70 switch has exact same problem. Memory OK but won't move forward with the switch. Mine died slowly until the forward function quit altogether. Everything else works.

You might try looking at the circuit board with a magnifying glass to check for cracks or bad solder connections. Right now I have a brake job to do or I would take a look at it. If you figure this out, be sure to post back because you are not alone with this issue.

Each seat has its own self resetting thermal circuit breaker (11C/39) for the Left seat and (11C/40) for the right seat, to get at the circuit breakers you need to remove the entire top cover of the fusebox at the base of the windscreen, four T20 head screws, the self resetting breakers are the small silver metal cans that look like small relays. Try swapping 39 with 40 and then see if the fault goes to the other seat, if so a new circuit breaker is all that you need - Mike
