I tossed mine few years ago.

Interesting thing is that Volvo stopped putting them in s,v70.All they did in 850(s) was plugging themselves on & on.

You could probably attach it to any available nipple on a vacuum tree but firstly the nipple on a flame trap must be plugged, otherwise there would be an obvious vacuum leak.

Thanks.

Hopefully it'll stay warm enough for me to do this over the weekend.

That leak is making the car a thirsty beast!

My dad has this code on his 850 glt and a broken elbow. Which elbow is it? Two are available?
1389574, or 9155862?

If i use a hose where does it connect to? One of the ports with the 4 plugs on the IACV?

These questions were was addressed in the thread, i.e.

I think it is the large-small elbow but I wouldn't buy it. Your best bet is to just walk into any auto parts store and get 3 or 4 feet of rubber, 5/16 vacuum line. It will be cheap. Run a fresh piece of line from that nipple in your photo over to where the existing hose connects to the flame trap housing, next to the throttle body. Choose any route you like, under the manifold or around the front. The vac line will last longer, be easier to install, and work better than the thin, hard plastic tubing that is in there now. Just leave the old hose in there.

Or are you asking something else?

On mine, the the problem was the vacuum connection on the left side of the intake manifold. That tube goes behind the manifold and connects to the vacuum tree.

I didn't use an elbow to fix it. I got a length of vacuum tubing from O'Reilly's. I needed a pair of long nose needle nose pliers to get the tubing over the nipple on the manifold. I then routed the tubing in front of the manifold and connected it to the same place on the vacuum tree where the original tube connected.

The code hasn't been back since.

Is the flame trap the thing that looks like a tree with four branches with nipples?
Is it okay to leave the existing hose open or do I have to plug it? Where does it connect to?

If my dad wants the oem look, does anybody know the part number? Thanks!

That's the vacuum tree.

I left the original hose/tube unconnected.

Ok just to clarify, the OEM hose routes across the turbo into the vacuum tree which is near the throttle body. You remove the 90deg elbow from the intake manifold run your own line across the front of the engine into the same port on the vacuum tree.

Correct?
Thanks

Ok lastly, does anybody know the Volvo part number, I found two elbows both similar. One is small small, the other is big small.
