B-24 Bomber plant in Ypsilanti Mi. Has been saved to be part of the Yankee Air Museum.
Over a thousand "Rosie the Riveters" showed up for a fund raising event last month to raise the final amount needed to secure the building from demolition.
My Father flew in a B-24 in the South-Pacific campaign and was one of three survivors of his crew after being shot down with nearly 50 missions under his belt. So I feel a little close to the place where his plane was likely built.
I have been helping the museum with special events over the past three years or so to help this happen.
I do the production for the events and ceremonies and it is rewarding as well as a learning/teaching experience.
Just wanted to post my enjoyment for this wealth of history to be saved.

I wanted to add that this is not only about world war II, it is also a place of learning, continuing development in robotics technologies and many other historical developments.
NASA had brought an exhibit that I was happy to set up.
There were robotic competition finals held for the national competition of Junior and High School students.
It is all worth while in my opinion. It is not about war at this point. It is about knowledge.
Look up Lack Lousma. He is no slouch.
This is a link to one of his foundations. He told a story of leaving the earths atmosphere, in both a capsule mounted atop a Saturn V rocket, and a Space Shuttle with external tank and solid rocket boosters (SRB).
He is one of the very few astronauts to fly an Apollo mission as well as a shuttle mission as the commanding pilot. Not to mention spending 60 days in space on Skylab.
Just Wow.
Very dynamic human.
