2005 S40 2.4i Dash Vent Select Button Cease Function

Post by H20pulse »

Zero forum search results displayed for each key word in the title, so my apologies for a repeat.

The issue is that only the button for the dashboard level vents will not illuminate nor will it select the dashboard vents. The windshield and floor vents work in combination and individually. All other fan speeds, temp controls, outside/recirculate buttons illuminate and perform their proper functions.

I initiated the climate control diagnostic function several times a while back to see if anything came up. It was not much help. I forget if it blinked codes to decipher or read out nothing found on the display.

Related issue clue or not:
The rear window defrost stopped working at some point too. No tint ever, no detailing, no valet, hasn't had work done. I will have to inspect the orange grid for continuity, but I don't suspect that. Not sure any wires in the trunk were bumped, it just stopped.

Any info on likely places to begin, like fuses, relays, stuck actuators, simply the button failure, etc. would be great.

Thanks,

Mike

I gather that you aretrying to diagnose this without DiCE / VIDA. This kind of signal analysis is what it's best at.

Thanks for your quick reply. I just thought I'd consult the collective knowledge base before buying something that may or may not tell me what I need to buy next.

For a car with ~15 different computers and 3 networks Di CE / VIDA is essential for a DIY. Cheap @ $120.
