98 V70 Wheel Toe Settings
I wrecked a pair of tires on my car due to toe setting problems. I had a 4-wheel alignment done on a different set of good tires and all is fine. Now I am replacing the two tires I ruined, 205/45 17's and putting them back on the car. Is there any particular reason I should have toe checked again with the new tires. The current tires are wearing fine and have been on at least for 6000 miles since toe was adjusted. Basic question, if alignment is in good shape does it change when changing to different wheels. current tires are 15 inch snows on steelies, summer tires are on Volvo alloy wheels.

If the offset is different yes. If the car is not pulling and steering is straight let it go. For your own edification however take a measurement. Park your car on level ground, as much as possible. Find the same spot about the same height on the front and rear treads and take a measure. If they are within 1/16 of an inch you are in good shape. The preference is Toe-In meaning a smaller measurement in the front of the tire rather than the back. Much easier with a helping hand.

Thanks BKM. Tires go on today and I'll get my wife to help with a quick measurement.
