He brings up an interesting point; air temp. I added two dials next to each other, one for outside temp and one for intake temp. It's incredible to see the two differences, especially when you stomp on it on a hot day. Makes you realize that cold air intakes really don't have much impact for their price.

P80 factory air intake is surprisingly efficient (and lightweight). I went back to it after running a DIY piping setup. It's not high on the list of things to mod to get more power/mpg, but people often start there anyway.

Yeah - I just tried to watch my o2 volt readings while driving but that wasnt happening.

But at idle and revved to 2000rpm after I got back to my driveway - the o2 Volt charts for Bank 1 sensor 1 and 2 were basically identical sin charts. Not feeling good about that and need to do some research. Plus pending P0422 code - main catalyst efficiency below threshold.

On the fun side - I was not exactly racing but it calculated my 0-60 when I was merging on the highway at 22 seconds! I might have to put a little more effort into that one next time.

Hey guys, I need your help again.

I got elm 327 clone (wifi) from amazon. I can use it with galaxy tab and Lumia windows phone. It works with most of the cars I've tried it on (saab 9-5 diesel, couple of renault clios, e46 m3,....).

I can't get it to work on my 97 850 T5. Adapter status in Torque app says, that it is connected to the adapter, and that the adapter can communicate with the ecu, but I can't get any readings, not even real-time readings, such as RPM and coolant temp.

I should mention that the ecu has been chipped (cheap ebay unit). Can this be a problem? Other than that, what could be wrong?

Thanks for the help.

I believe the "cheap e bay unit" chip mod. bypasses the MAF. So that may be a problem.

I don't own a "smart" phone, I only use a Tracfone for emer use and phone calls. No, I'm not a luddite, just can find it in me to spend 75~100 a month for a smart phone service. That being said, this looks cool and I want to set this up for my cars. Can I just by an Android smart phone, say used and non network functional and use it to USB or Wi-Fi connect to this thing? Any way to get the App without having it subscribed to some service? Any other method for using either this system or others with a WiFi enabled device? My kid has an iPad, it only is usable off my home network, so, it is just WiFi. I'm assuming I can run this device or some other type via Bluetooth to it and use a Wifi connection at home to dowlload the application.
If I'm totally missing the boat here, explain to me in technical terms what I need to do. I understand most tech, just don't use a lot of it.
You don't really need the phone part of a phone - just the android part. You can buy a used Android smartphone and simply never connect it to a phone service provider. Just use wifi for internet access. For this application you don't even need internet access because you will use bluetooth to connect the "phone" to the OBDII device (you will need wifi to download the app though). You can also just buy an android tablet for around $175 (and up) these days at Best Buy or Amazon. The advantage of a tablet is the screen is much bigger and you will be able to actually see the dials.

You can't use the ipad with this particular software because it isn't android, although there are probably similar iOS applications for it.

I have found that this is a GREAT reason to hold onto your old phone when you upgrade your cell phone.

Torque has been great to me.

None of my phones were "smart" so I bought a small, used Galaxy tablet on e-bay.
