2000 V70 SE (Non-turbo) 160K. Daughter was driving home from work when most of the dash warning lights came on: ABS, Brake, CEL, ETS and the "Arrow UP" began flashing. At the same time, the info center (for lack of the correct term) where mileage, miles to empty, etc. are displayed, suddenly went to all dashed lined. Tach ran up to 3500 and car felt like it was not in gear at. Shortly after, it kicked into gear and limped the final quarter mile home.
We pulled the negative battery cable, to reset it. Now the warning lights are off except the Arrow up, which is still flashing.
I'm thinking Transmission Control Module (TCM). Thoughts?
If it is the TCM, can I visit my favorite junkyard and pull one from a donor V70? Are there substitutions? S80? S60? 850?
Thanks as always.

I'm not an expert on Autos but we get very few TCM or ECM failures diagnosed on these cars.
When a simple component breaks on these cars, the closed loop systems go haywire and leave you in "limp " mode which seems catastrophic but in fact is designed to just get you home.
Sometimes it is as simple as a vacuum hose that has come off.

I drive the same car with just over 301, 000kms. At those miles I'd be suspecting either a corroded cable (positive to alternator) or bad earth or a failed regulator.
As abscate mentioned the computers are one of the least likely items to fail.
Having the car read via OBDii is a step in the right direction to analysis of the problem. The Torque App on my phone coupled with a bluetooth ELM327 reads it quite well. These Denso cars (engine computer is Denso as are many engine sensors) have very few sensor problems.
The way to have a code change status from pending to stored is to start and run the car with no faulty components for 3 times. Then the arrow should disappear.
