Cruise Control connections

Post by Leatherneck »

Could someone let me know if I am missing a hose connection on my cruise control. I pulled it off to replace the air pump and found only one hose connected to it. The Small elbow connects to a hose but there is another possible hose connection that I wanted to see about. Thanks in advance, it is opposite the elbow in the picture.

I'm pretty sure that all of the openings to it are suppose to be plugged with an elbow and/or vacuum hose.

Yes that top elbow has to be connected to a hose.. the hose will run somewhere in the inside right between the battery and the brake master cylinder. Its a vacuumn hose which connects to the cruise control vac reservoir.

My cruise control has only one line on it also. It looks like there is a nipple where another line would go, but I have no idea where the line is. The cruise does not work.

In that diagram, one of the nipples appears to be open (very surprised). If this is accurate, then I would suspect a leak in one of the hoses which could be discovered rather easily and "patched with a piece of another rubber hose (slightly larger) or silicone hose cinched down over the broken part with plastic zip ties (or you could cut the line where the break is and patch together as described above).

yes on my 850's the bottom nipple is open. The top one runs in through the firewall into the acellerator pedal where all the control shown above are.

Hey thanks for the diagram. Figured out the problem on it. At the brake pedal the white part that you can pull out to adjust the plunger placement against the brake pedal arm. Well it will adjust and then go one additional click. This causes the plunger to sit out just a hair and the cruise will not engage. I have a parts car with one but I am going to try some glue on the white piece unless someone has a better suggestion.

Ah, if I remember right, the mount for that can be bent so the sensor is closer to or farther from the pedal. Does it look like you can do that? I'm not quite understanding the glue idea.

i think your saying your going to glue the white plunger together because it broke?

Will that work?

Or are you saying the clip that holds it in has broken off the housing?
