1996 850 ABS module

1996 850 ABS module

Good morning: I removed my ABS module to repair same. I was able to pry open the box to look at the solder joints. I can't see if any joints need to be soldered. Can I just purchase a new circuit board? If so any ideas. Thank you.

You have to remove the coating, you usually can't see anything through it.

:D ...and after three installs /removals and 3 month fixes you can buy a replacement from Matty at a reasonable price and then come back and post nice things about him like me...

Just ship it to Matt for repair. It's not worth the hastle.

gee, thanks guys!

This is how I look at it. It takes a couple of hours to fix one if you've never done it before with a 96-98 module. If you don't get every little bit of that coating off of the pins you're wasting the time and energy you put into the entire project because you aren't going to have solid joints. They have to be 100% clean.

That coating....either it peels right off cleanly or you have to scrape it off. I despise that part of the job so much that I have a guy that does it for me. All I do is open the modules up, he cleans them up inside and out. He likes doing it, I don't.

On top of saving money the core expertise of guys like you and Marty at Raxles is key to us keeping these old cars on the road. When we start running out of ABS modules and no one can recon them, life will suck.
