'97 850 Hood Insulation Problem

Hey guys,
My hood liner/insulation has recently become home to a few chipmunks. And even though they're gone now they left a bunch of acorns and decided to chew up the liner and make a nest out of it. Now there's a bunch of holes in it and where the nest was is totally threadbare and see through. Anyone ever patch these? Should I use a specific material?

Go to junk yard and get new insulation...

Your best bet would be a junk yard (pick-and-pull) to get a new piece. The plastic holding clips all take a quarter turn to the left, (counter clockwise) to let go of that sheet.
The windshield squirting tubes may have made friends, but come loose easily.

After that you could roll it up and transport it home on a bicycle if you had to.

If they charge more than $5. I would be surprised.
I have three scrap hoods on hand. If you were closer, I would say pick one up.

During installation of "new" hood insulation, spray some Paprika in there.
Chipmunks hate Paprika...

I will try that on the new hood I am still finishing for the wagon.
I have an industrial sized canister of Cayenne pepper. Would that suffice?

Chipmunk and pepper are quite tasty, like chicken. They make a nice appetizer with Swedish meatballs

I was in fact envisioning skewers with vegetables. Those li'l critters can be might tasty for sure.
That could be a new menu option at Ikea, to go along with the Swedish meatballs at their cafeteria.

It is a great place to look at mass produced Swedish furniture, argue with the significant other, get a snack, and strap stuff to your vehicle that you didn't realize you were in need of.

Oh, and figure out how to put it together when you get home. (Oh, my. Was that out loud?)

It was much easier when I just had the 65 Beetle and nothing fit in it. Once I had the 1971 Microbus, SWMBO got good at finding 5 USD walnut armoires and bringing them home.
