I suspect my driveshafts/CV joints need replacing, but I have never attempted this job, and I am hoping someone can confirm or refute my suspicions.
I removed the left tire and didn't find any tears in the boots, but the inner CV housing, the hexagon-like component, was coated in black gunk. I think it is CV joint grease, but I also fear it's fluid slowly leaking from the transmission. I have not found a transmission leak however.
Also, thank you to vegasjetskier for posting this wonderful guide, but unfortunately the images are gone.

Does it make noise when tuning left or right? Unless you just want to replace the half shaft completely, trying new boots and such is uneconomical I terms of time spent unless you make $2 an hour.
If the boot is leaking, dirt is already inside the joint, but you could drive it like that for years and they make horrible noise well before they become dangerous.
Nice warm Saturday, I'd just replace it, and keep your tranny full of fluid, it's really not worth it to go after $2 seal with an 11 hour labor job unless the trans has signs of dying.

It makes noise turning left, which to me screams bad right CV joint. I am planning on replacing both CV joints. I posted the images just in case anyone more versed than me would happen saw a different problem that I missed.
