2000 Volvo S40 Cam Shaft Position location
2000 Volvo S40 Cam Shaft Position location
I am in need of some help. I keep getting CEL for P0014 and P0013, I believe for a retarded bank 1. I replaced the solenoid and now need to replace the cam shaft position sensor but don't know where it is. I have looked on this forum for some images but can't seem to find any. If anybody can point me in the right direction please do so.

It is on the back of the exhaust cam.
I really doubt the CPS is faulty. They either work or don't, wrong positioning is not something I have ever heard.
The p0013 is for a circuit problem and the p0014 is reporting the result of the cam position when the p0013 problem occurs.
If you p0013 after the new part is installed then check for loose terminals in the two wire solenoid connector. Also check for 12v on one of the wires with engine running. One wire is supplied with 12V feed and the other is grounded by the ECM for varying percentage to control oil flow to the cam gear hub for cam positioning

Could it be that your vvt hub is bad? Alternately have you recently adjusted your timing belt.if so this could indicate that the timing is ever so slightly off.

Further to a previous post I got this
error once and was just about to replace the solenoid when I noticed that the wiring to the solenoid was crushed and split. Turns out that I had cut it when putting the screws for the plastic engine cover back on.

Thanks guys for all your info. I Just got it back from the mechanic and they placed the new cam shaft sensor and everything is gravy. Now the problem is my AC. The recirculating air and AC flash about twenty times when I start the car. There is any cold air coming out only hot. Also the pipe gets cold on one end but it is hot on the other (where the freon is going). My mechanic couldn't find the solution for this problem. He said it might be the expansion valve. Any ideas MVS peeps?
