Hi.
I have a 57 Volvo S80 2.4 D SE. The car sometimes starts and sometimes doesn't. Battery has been checked and the in the system is a camshaft sensor fault.
Fault code 'P034100 - Camshaft sensor A. General Failure Information.'
The camshaft sensor was replaced with a genuine one. Still same fault.
The garage recommended crank shaft sensor replaced with genuine. Still same fault.
The garage have checked the cam pick-up and have also checked the timing of the vehicle.
They are a bit stumped as to where to go next. Any idea's or has anyone had similar faults.
Thanks
2007 S80 Camshaft Sensor Fault
Get that "shop" to measure the cam and crank correlation with an oscilloscope.
That measurement has to be done directly at the engine controller (also checks the wiring).
Errors like that may either be electrical or mechanical in nature.
If the sensor, wiring or hardware/software within the engine controller is damaged, expect a fault.
If the timing mechanisms between the camshaft and crankshaft and not in perfect alignment, expect a fault.
