My mistake! I forgot to write "accelerator pedal", it's not the brake pedal. Sorry!
Will do a little editing of the codes read earlier.

But anyway, a brand new used pedal costs about 10 dollars, so I can try I few.

Actually you DID write accelerator but I was thinking brake sensor. They rarely if ever fail. They're made by Hella.

Try disconnecting the battery and touching terminals together. I doubt you'll see this code or the ETS light again.

Also they are painful to remove and there are 2 different connector types depending on month of build.

ETS light off, and the car behaves normally (as before).

I had an accelerator pedal code once and once only. I went and bought a new pedal for $190 USED and by the time I tried the battery reset I had acquired a test pedal assembly for ETM customers.

I had cleared the code about 20 times on the way home as well as clearing it with Vida. The only thing that worked was the battery reset.

That's comforting, I think a used pedal here will cost about 10-15 dollars, so next time the code comes up, I will try that.
But of course, I hope it never does..

Update:

I have continued driving the car, and it behaves normally. ETS light still off.
Only the second of my two codes actually lights ETS lamp, but both codes individually causes the ETS to "ignore accelerator pedal when brakes are applied". This little fact means I can test the presens of the first code, and it's not back yet. Weak logic here, maybe..?

To the point; I think you're right, perhaps I will never see the light again!

The ECM-9520 (brake pedal position sensor) prevents throttle input while the brake is pressed. This can be annoying for people who like to use two feet on the pedals sjuch as during parking maneuvers. Also the ETS light will come on (on pre 2001 cars)

Proof of this is if you disconnect the 2 pin connector on the brake booster the ETS will light and accelerator will be dead while brake is on.

The only way to rid yourself of ECM-9520 permanently is to replace the pedal sensor or open it up and resolder the connector area to the logic board inside the cylinder cssing.
