96 850 junk yard A/C what if it's still charged?

Found an A/C part I'd like to have on a junker. I asked the counter guy if their systems are all discharged and got his "safe-side" answer: "They're supposed to be, but they don't always do it". Nice. So now what?

Just push the valve in on the low side and ...whoosh.....in 30 seconds it's empty.

It's going to leak out of the junker anyhow, so your not really contributing any more Freon, just doing it faster. Recycling an old part is green too.

Ah, a plausible net moral justification. True, though, that it will eventually leak out, if only at the crusher.
