I need the engine serial number to order the correct timing belt kit. I have located the number, but most of it is hidden behind pipes and hoses, and what I can see, I can't make out. Any suggestions?
I've tried a very bright light, and I've tried mirrors. I can't get my hand or any kind of a tool in there to clean it or to put paint into the etched numbers.
Does anyone know if a Volvo dealer could tell me the engine serial number if I provide my VIN?

The Engine SN is printed and barcoded on the sticker that is attached to the front TB cover. Normally, it is easy to see from the top RH side. You can use a barcode scanner if the numbers aren't legible, or if that sticker became defaced, the stealership has it in their database.
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.
