They are separate. The dealer has these bolts for about $.70 each from what I have read elsewhere.

Okay, aonother stupid question. How do I know if my car is a 2.3L, or a 2.5L. The manual says it's 5 cyl. turbo, but other paperwork says it's 2.4L. Does any of this make sense ? So, I'm confused. Does 2.5 mean 5 cyl ? And when looking up parts (radiator) the sites only offer me a Nissan radiator part. Are these interchangeable ?
Thanx again guys !! Just want to make sure this is done right, and I'm prepared.

2.3 lt is the turbo motor, the 2.4 is the non turbo motor. if unsure, give your dealer your vin number and they will tell you.

The 2.3, 2.4, 2.5 indicates the liters of displacement in the engine. The previous poster is correct. On 850's and S/V/C/70's before 2001, the 2.3 was turbo and 2.4 was non-turbo. From '01 there were some changes and 2.4 as well as (later) 2.5 turbo's were also built.

The radiator is Nissens and not Nissan (as in cars), and yes, they are interchangeable.

Okay.. Yea, I got the 2.4 off a reciept for E.Z. Lube from when my boss's wife took it for an oil change last year. So, I guess I can either ask my boss tomorrow if it's 2.3, 2.4, or 2.5. and or call the dealer tomorrow.
They took pretty good care of it, took it to the dealer 98% of the time for regular service, so it's in great condition, despite this coolant leak that started a few months after I bought the car, how ironic. I love this car and want to keep it up. So, yea, will check with them tomorrow at work.
Sorry about the Nissan / Nissen mistake. =) Either way, still learning, and it's helpfull.

To verify your engine size, you can look at what's called the emissions sticker (if it hasn't fallen off). This is the best method (better than calling the dealer, using a VIN, etc.) for determining which engine you have. On some cars, there can be a lot of variation in engines -- this sticker is considered the "final authority".

It should be located under your hood, so that it's easily readable when the hood's opened. Every car must have this sticker, although they do eventually fall off. It's white and about 4" x 4" and will include various technical info regarding your engine and any vacuum hose diagrams.

I don't know what engines the 850 had, but just as an example, this sticker will display the engine displacement -- I think it's labeled that way, but it may not be. Just look for a number followed by either cc (cubic centimeters) or l (liters) and from this you'll be able to tell whether you have a 2.3 or 2.4 or 2.5l engine (the displacement almost always is rounded to the nearest tenth of a liter).

Example (first what you see on the sticker, second what engine size you have):
2285 cc -> 2.3 liter (l)
2.43 l -> 2.4 l
2508 cc -> 2.5 l

(Remember, I have no idea what engines the 850 actually had, so my ex. numbers are made up. The point is you just need to round what you see on the emissions sticker to the nearest tenth of a liter.)

1000 cc = 1 liter

If any of this isn't clear, just post what you see on that sticker and we (I) can tell you your engine size.

Very cool Justin. Appreciate it. I will look for the sticker in the next hour.
I had called 3 dealers yesterday. 1 said I have 2.5L. but it was not a turbo. Another said it's 2.5L and a turbo, and the last guy told me it was also a 2.5 turbo. and said my car # was B52542T, the "T" meaning turbo, said if the #'s were followed by and "S" then it was non turbo. I was unable to ask the boss yest. but do remember him saying that his kids really wanted the car (but he sold it to me), and said but I dont want them testing out the turbo, driving too fast and crashing. When he took me for a test drive before I bought it, he said you gotta check out the turbo, and we went racing around all over the the place. He has asked me from time to time, if I've checked out the turbo yet, and why not. But really if I'm replaceing a part then I do think it best to go as far as check with dealers and take Justin's advice and chk the sticker under the hood, just to be sure. Maybe it doesnt matter as far as parts go, but really, I think I'd like to know my car inside and out as much as I can. :) Justin I will check it out soon, and post a reply by this after noon. Thank You !!

You are correct about the S and T designations. However, there is no B52542T, but instead a B5254T, which is the correct engine for the '97 GLT. Click on the link below and go to near the bottom of the page: http://www.vlvworld.com/indexframe.html?engspecs.html
You'll see that your GLT has the low pressure turbo at 190HP compared to the same engine B5254S that has 168 without the turbo.
Also specified for the engine is it's displacement at 2.4L.

Okay, went down to the car and checked the white sticker under my hood as Justin had recommended and yes it's a B5254T. I guess somewhere between the dealer and I we added the " 2 " at the end. But that has been cleared up. Also thank you MIJ ! Thank you sooo much guys, I really couldnt have done it or figured it out on my own. My friends are mechanically inclined, but I dont think they know to look for those things either. Personally I would much rather go to this site for advice and how to, and get the car fixed on my own, then go to my mechanic who worked on my Honda. I really dont trust him with this car, and dont want to chance it. So, this has all been very helpfull, and I look forward to getting more advice from this site in the near future. You guys are the best :D
