Good morning folks, new guy to the site, 1997 850AWD 5 speed wagon and love it, wife says it is like driving your living room around.........from what I understand they did not bring many of this model into Canada so I hope I don't have issues finding specific parts if needed? I have done some work on the vehicle and have been lucky finding some items in the local wreckers.
Great site and loads of useful information, I am not new to wrenching or vehicles but reasonably new to the "quirks" of Volvos and I am sure I will have some questions in the future and hope to be able to contribute something back.

Welcome to the fold Jeremy,
Although there may be a small number of your specific model in the Great White North finding parts should not be a problem as the bits that make up our cars are all interchangeable (within model) for the most part with slight variations between years. Be sure to do your homework first! What this does make confusing is nailing down specific information for your car (tutorials). For example: I own a 1999 S70 T5 and there were a number of small changes from 98 to 99 and before that there was the 850 so finding the exact info I need can be a little time consuming but I eventually find it.

When I bought this wagon I didn't appreciate what it was, got it VERY cheap because there was a leak in the gas tank. Found a tank at the wreckers and spent an entire day removing the old one and installing the replacement, total PITA due to having to remove rear drive line, suspension etc etc....
Once it was up and running I found out some information about the car, it has been local it's whole life, the exhaust was completely upgraded from manifold to tip, upgraded turbo and ECM and the best part, the motor was replaced less then a year ago with a motor that only had just over 100000kms....
Apparently the old motor with high mileage did not like the turbo/ECM upgrade and didn't last long.
All in all, for $1500 I think I did well.....
Plus it is super fun to drive.....
