Post by fathrington »

i plan to do the slow process of drain and fill multiple time until most of the old fluid has circulated out.
can anyone point me in the right direction to get the oem stuff cheapest?

if the engine is a non turbo then it needs fluid meeting JW 3309 or Volvo 1161540 requirements.

It seems that Volvoline MaxLife ATF is available widely in a version (import?) that meets the requirement and has been used by many with no ill effects.
Toyota T-IV is the same spec and that is available at Toyota dealers.

See my post... Just did a fluid refresh after multiple drain and fills 9,000 miles ago... My car shifts really smooth btw...

FYI. Just changed atf using several drain and fills with valvoline max life atf. I noticed slipping with this fluid and finally decided to flush with volvo atf and the slipping stopped almost immediately.
Apparently, max life may have too many friction modifiers and was not suitable for my 2010 volvo s80 t6 with 85k miles
